Asian and Pacific Rim Symposium on Biophotonics
Welcome to the 3rd Asian and Pacific Rim Symposium on Biophotonics, which
will be held in conjunction with Biophotonics Downunder II. The Asian
and Pacific Rim Symposium on Biophotonics is developing as one of the
leading forums in the Asia Pacific region for scientists, engineers and
research students to exchange the latest research, developments and concepts
in biophotonics.
Biophotonics is a rapidly expanding field that has a direct and substantial
impact on the quality of research being conducted in biological and biomedical
sciences. More recently biophotonics based tools are becoming mainstream
in fields such as genomics, bioengineering and medical diagnostics.
For APBP2007 the range of topics have been expanded to include several
new fields that are having a significant impact in biophotonics based
research. The topics for APBP2007 are:
· Multi-photon microscopy
· Laser tweezers and trapping
· Microfluidic devices for biomedical applications
· Spectroscopy for biomedical analysis
· Photo-therapy and laser tissue interactions
· Optical coherence tomography and clinical applications
· Gated and diffuse optical imaging techniques
· Photo-acoustic and hybrid imaging techniques
· Novel biophotonic technologies with nanotechnology
· Biophotonics for cell biology
· Digital holographic microscopy
The conference venue for APBP2007 is the beautiful Shangri-la hotel, Cairns,
Australia. The Shangri-la is located within a short walking distance of
the heart of tropical Cairns and is surrounded by the Cairns Marina and
manmade lagoon. Cairns is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, with
a variety of activities only a short boat ride away.
As Co-Chairs of the Organising Committee for APBP2007 we welcome you to
Cairns, Australia and encourage you to enjoy the technical and social
aspects of the conference. We would also encourage you to stay and enjoy
the wonderful city that is Cairns.
